Reception Home Learning

Hello Reception,

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! Happy New Year to you all!

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and that you and your families are safe, happy and healthy.

Mrs Bond, Miss Lester and I are missing you all and are hoping that we can all be together again soon. Until then I will be setting some tasks for you to complete at home each day.

In the learning grid there are two activities for you to try to complete. I would also like you to try the ‘Daily Five’ activities. These can just be something quick and easy (see ideas sheet below) and if you have time to do them all that would be fantastic!

You have all been given your HWB usernames and passwords and lots of you have already used ‘Paint’ to create a lovely picture. If you complete work using HWB I will be able to see your work and I can make comments. There is also an upload button which will enable you to send pictures if you would like to show us all the lovely work you have been doing at home.

If you have any difficulties with HWB please contact the school on the email below and we will get in touch as soon as possible maesycoedprimaryschool@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Stay safe and keep smiling!

Ideas for Daily Five

Reading – share stories and books you have at home. Read to younger/older siblings. Read magazines if you have them. Read or listen to e-books online (go to www.oxfordowl.co.uk) Help to read recipes, instructions for games, help to find your class page on the school blog, read signs when you go for a walk. Find familiar words/letter sounds in the newspaper, in books, in your post.

Maths – Everyday counting… count when you walk up stairs/steps, count things around the house/garden, look at house numbers on a local walk, identify numbers on a clock and ask a grown up to help you to tell the time. Measures.... find things that are big/small, think of other words we use for big and small, help to weigh out ingredients if you bake, find things that are heavy/light, think of other words we use for heavy and light. Explore money…. identify different coins, count them, compare them, use coins to pretend to buy things.

Keep Fit – walk, jog or run, enjoy a bike/scooter ride, exercises in the garden, dancing. Cosmic Kids Yoga and Joe Wicks P.E (both on You Tube).

Being Creative – draw, paint, collage, chalks on your paths, make junk models, bake a cake, help to make a meal, build with Lego/blocks or sets, use dolls or figures to act out a story. Sing songs (www.outoftheark.co.uk) or (www.youtube.com) make actions, dance and perform. Maybe have a family talent night!

Celebrating – Each day think about and talk about something that you have done well or enjoyed doing and celebrate it! Can you ask others in your house if they have something to celebrate?

Hello children!

I hope you and your families are all safe, happy and healthy.

Those of you who have been to school over the last 2 weeks – I hope you have enjoyed catching up on some work and seeing your friends and teachers!

Can you believe this is the last week before the summer holidays start?

You have all done amazingly well throughout lockdown. It’s been a very strange time for us all but you have kept your smiles and continued to work hard. I am SO proud of you for this!

As your teachers, it has felt really bizarre not to be in school with you every day! We have missed you all so very much!

 Shape

We hope you have a super duper summer! Let’s hope for some sunshine so you can all enjoy doing wonderful things with your families and friends.

Have fun! Stay safe!

Much love,

Mrs Reynolds Xx  Mrs Bond Xx  Mrs Hughes Xx

If you can – send some of the activities or other things you’ve done. We always love to see them.

Hello children!
I hope you and your families are all safe, happy and healthy.
Well…. this week some of you will be returning to school – how exciting!
Everyone there can not wait to see you! It will feel a little different but I’m
sure you will just enjoy being back. There is a video on the blog page if you
want to have a sneak peek at how our school looks.
If you are not yet ready to return to school I will be giving you a ring over
the next week or two to have a little catch up and see how you are.
Here are some activities to keep you busy over the next 2 weeks. All the
activities are about SUMMER! We’ve had such lovely weather I thought we
should celebrate it! Let’s hope I don’t jinx us and make it rain every day!!
Remember your DAILY FIVE too. These can just be something quick and easy
(see the ideas sheet)
You have all done so well with your work so far. Just a few more weeks then
it will be the summer holidays and time for you to rest. Yay!
Massive thanks to all your wonderful parents/carers for their homeschool
efforts. They have been incredible throughout all this and I think they are
AMAZING!
If you can – send some of the activities or other things you’ve done. I always
love to see them.

Hello children!

I hope you and your families are all safe and well.

Rea and I have been spending so much time in the garden and have noticed lots of bees buzzing around. So we started to learn a bit about them and we thought you might like to. We have also been busy looking after our plants and flowers to make sure they grow.

I have really LOVED the emails you’ve been sending. You have all been so busy! Me, Mrs Bond and Mrs Hughes get very excited to see your photos/videos and read about what you’ve been up to. Keep them coming!

Here are some more activities for you to try to complete for the next weeksThere are 2 activities each day and also the DAILY FIVE. These can just be something quick and easy (see the ideas sheet)

If you can – send us some of the activities or other things you’ve done. We’d love to see them.
